DAY 1: Johannesburg – Pretoria - Sun City

Voortrekker MonumentArrive at Johannesburg International Airport. On arrival, you will be met and assisted by the Taj Tours local representative. You will then proceed to the Administrative Capital of South Africa, Pretoria with an English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide. On your Orientation Tour, see the Voortrekker Monument, which commemorates the Afrikaner pioneers who trekked from the Cape in the 1830’s to escape British domination, and the Kruger House, where many of President Paul Kruger’s personal belongings are on display. We also see the Union Buildings, which were built to house the Administrative Offices of the Union of South Africa, and the Church Square - the original market place and focal point of the isolated Boer community’s, baptisms and weddings. Later we proceed to Sun City, a truly fantastic phenomenon, purpose-built, accessible by road and air, brash, exciting and great fun! Set in the Pilanesburg Mountains and Game Reserve, Sun City is a man made fantasy playground offering extensive leisure and entertainment. Lunch at an Indian Restaurant in Johannesburg and dinner at an Indian Restaurant in Sun City. Overnight at The Sun City Cabanas Hotel, or similar. (Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 2: Sun City

Sun CityFull day at leisure to enjoy the optional activities available within and outside the Sun City complex. Lunch on own account within the complex. Dinner at an Indian Restaurant in Sun City. Overnight at The Sun City Cabanas Hotel, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 3: Sun City

DAY 4: Sun City – Kruger National Park

canyonThis morning, depart with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide and drive via the panoramic route to Kruger. Visit God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the three Rondavels with breathtaking views over the Blyde Rivier Canyon. Lunch on own account enroute. Later, drive to Kruger National Park – arrive and check-in at the lodge outside the Kruger National Park. Dinner and overnight at Protea Kruger Gate, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 5: Kruger National Park

giraffEarly breakfast at the lodge or breakfast packs arranged from the lodge. Later, proceed on a Full Day Game Drive in the Kruger National Park. Lunch at Skukuza Restaurant, or similar (Vegetarian Menu). Dinner and overnight at Protea Kruger Gate, or similar. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 6: Kruger National Park - Mbabane

MbabaneAfter an early breakfast, depart with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide for Swaziland, entering at Jeppe’s Reef Border – clear immigration to enter the Kingdom of the Swazi. Lunch on own account. Later visit the Candle or Glass Factory, the Street Market and the Swazi Cultural Village (Entrances not included). Dinner and overnight at Foresters Arms, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 7: Mbabane – ZuluLand

ZululandThis morning, drive with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide to the Golela Border, where you will clear immigration to enter back into South Africa. Drive to Shakaland. Light lunch en route to your hotel. On arrival, proceed on a panoramic tour, followed by African Cultural Dancing. Dinner and overnight at Protea Hotel Shakaland, or similar. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 8: Zululand - Durban

durbanToday depart with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide for a drive along the panoramic Zulu Land and south to Durban (approx. 6 hours drive). On arrival, continue along the palm-lined Victoria Embankment with its statues and exclusive yacht club to the Sugar Terminal. Lunch on own account in Durban. After lunch, continue on a panoramic tour of Durban, including a visit to the Botanical Gardens, before stopping at the Indian Market, where you can hunt for bargains. The tour ends at your hotel late evening. Dinner at an Indian Restaurant. Overnight at The Balmoral Hotel, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 9: Durban – Port Elizabeth – Knysna - George

KnysnaEarly breakfast at the hotel or breakfast packs arranged from the hotel. This morning check out and proceed to Durban Airport for your flight to Port Elizabeth, also known as windy city. On arrival, meet your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide. Port Elizabeth has Victorian Charm all of its own. After a brief City Tour, head southwards, passing Jeffries Bay en route to Natures Valley, the heart of Garden route. Lunch en route to Knysna. Dinner (Vegetarian Menu) and overnight at The Far Hills Country Hotel, or similar. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 10: Oudtshoorn / George

OstrichToday, set off with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide, and climb over the Outeniqua Pass into the Karoo. The contrast is spectacular. Leave the lush, green forests behind, and within 20 minutes, you are in a semi desert area. Visit the Safari Ostrich Farm: join a tour of the farm, which shows you how they breed these creatures. You will have a chance to ride an ostrich and even to place a bet on one of the races. Lunch on own account. The afternoon includes a guided tour through the world famous Cango Caves, full of fascination, and a visit to the Cango Crocodile and Cheetah Farm. Learn more about these awesome reptiles. Return to George. Dinner (Vegetarian Menu) and overnight at The Far Hills Country Hotel, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 11: George - Cape Town

SwellendamDepart from the hotel after breakfast with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide, for the George Station. Board a real steam train (subject to train operating). Travel from George to Mossel Bay. Visit the historic Post Office Tree, where early navigators left mail for the homebound ships to Europe. The route to Swellendam is via rolling hills. Swellendam is full of romantic history - visit the Drosty Museum. Lunch on own account at a Restaurant in Swellendam. Proceed to Cape Town. Dinner at an Indian Restaurant. Overnight at The Capetonian Hotel, Cape Town, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 12: Cape Town

Table MountainAfter breakfast, proceed with your English-speaking Guide or Driver / Guide directly to the lower cableway station on the slopes of the Table Mountain. (Weather permitting), ascend the mountain by aerial cable car (entrance fee on own account). From a height of 1,067 metres view the city and Table Bay below; also Robben Island, the Atlantic Seaboard and most of the spectacular Cape Peninsula. Later travel via Sea Point, stopping at Camps Bay to view the Twelve Apostles. At Hout Bay, take a boat trip (weather permitting) out to Duiker Island (Seal Island) and witness the thousands of Cape fur seals, cormorants and seagulls that congregate on the island (especially in summer). Drive through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and on to Cape Point, which lies virtually at the tip of Africa (only Cape Agulhas lies farther to the South). Lunch on own account during the tour. Proceed to witness the large colony of penguins at Boulder’s Beach. Travel to the oldest vineyard in South Africa, Groot Constantia for wine tasting. Dinner at an Indian Restaurant. Overnight at The Capetonian Hotel, Cape Town, or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 13: Cape Town - Departure

After breakfast at your hotel you will check out (Standard check out at 10:00 a.m.). Depending on the flight departure time, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport. The Taj Tours local representative will re-confirm your onward flight, and assist you at check-in. (Breakfast)
